Students study various kinds of real bears. For the Folk Art they design, measure, cut, sew, glue, stuff and decorate their unique Teddy Bears. Various types of textiles, buttons, feathers and other materials are used. | |||||||||
| Students do research on the Internet to learn about various types of bears from around the world. The Bear researchers write their bear's latin name, the common name, their vital statistics and what is special about their chosen bear. Students research information in books, encyclopedias, and science books in order to find all the information possible about their special bear. Students learned they had to collaborate because there were not enough bears for each student to have one. Reports were written and oral presentations were made about the various types of bears around the world such as: The California Grizzly Bear that is the symbol on our state's flag.
